The World Is Changing.

Your Career Doesn’t Have To.

AI is replacing office jobs. Self-driving cars are replacing drivers. But you can’t automate courage. You can’t replace a trained professional who shows up, stays calm, and protects people.

Right now, there are over 162,000 security jobs opening every year in the U.S. California pays some of the highest wages in the country. And getting started takes just one training course.

This page shows you exactly how to get there.

Jobs Are Disappearing. Yours Could Be Next.

Think about this for a moment. Right now, computers and robots are learning to do jobs that people used to do. And it’s happening faster than most people think.

Self-driving cars are already picking up passengers in cities across the country. Uber plans to offer robot taxis in 15 cities by the end of 2026. Lyft is rolling out driverless rides right now. Waymo already gives 400,000 rides a week — with no human behind the wheel.

If you drive for a living — or if you work in a call center, do data entry, handle paperwork, or work a cash register — your job could shrink or go away. Not someday. Soon.

Jobs That Are Being Replaced Right Now:

Taxi, Uber, and Lyft drivers — replaced by self-driving vehicles

Data entry and office clerks — replaced by AI software

Customer service and call centers — replaced by chatbots

Cashiers and retail workers — replaced by self-checkout

Truck drivers and delivery routes — replaced by automation

Bookkeepers and basic accounting — replaced by software

But Here’s the Good News…

Not every job can be replaced by a machine. Some jobs need a real person. A person who can think on their feet. Someone who can calm a scared crowd. Someone who can spot danger before it happens.

That’s what security professionals do. And that’s why this career is growing while others shrink.

162,300 security jobs open every year.
The U.S. security industry is worth $49 billion. California leads the nation in demand.

Imagine Your Life as a Security Professional

Picture this. You wake up knowing you have a career that matters. You’re trained. You’re certified. You have real skills that keep people safe. And nobody — no robot, no computer, no software — can do what you do.

Here’s What You Get When You Enter This Field:

You earn good money.

Security guards in California earn an average of $49,000 a year. Armed guards and specialists earn $20 to $35+ per hour. The more certifications you get, the more you make.

You pick your own schedule.

Day shifts. Night shifts. Weekends. Weekdays. Contract work or full-time. You choose what fits your life. Many people start part-time while they build up their credentials.

You learn skills that last forever.

CPR. First aid. How to stay calm in a crisis. How to handle a firearm safely. How to read a room and spot trouble before it starts. These skills help you at work, at home, and everywhere in between.

You open doors to bigger careers.

Security is a launchpad. From here, you can move into law enforcement, private investigation, executive protection, corporate security, federal agencies like the FBI or DHS, or emergency management. The sky is the limit.

You build real confidence.

When you know how to protect yourself and others, you carry yourself differently. You feel stronger. More prepared. More in control of your life.

“Security is not just a career — it’s a foundation that grows with you.”

Your Three Power Credentials

There are three key credentials that separate someone looking for a job from someone building a career. Here’s what they are and why each one matters to you.

1. Your California Guard Card

This is your license to work as a security guard in California. You complete an 8-hour training course, pass a background check, and apply through BSIS. It’s that simple. You can start working as soon as your application shows active — you don’t even need to wait for the physical card. Starting at just $85, this small step opens the door to a whole new career. SOTC is fully BSIS-approved and handles the paperwork for you.

2. Your BSIS Firearms Permit

This lets you carry a firearm while on duty as a security guard. Armed guards earn much more — between $20 and $35+ per hour. You also unlock high-level jobs like executive protection, financial buildings, government sites, and VIP details. The training includes classroom instruction and live range time with expert instructors.

3. Your Concealed Carry (CCW) Permit

A CCW lets you legally carry a concealed firearm — on or off duty. Since the 2022 Supreme Court ruling, California counties have made CCW permits easier to get. A CCW boosts your career options, makes you more valuable to employers, and gives you personal protection for you and your family. SOTC’s CCW training prepares you for the full application and qualification process.

SOTC offers training for all three — under one roof, from one team.

Why People Choose SOTC

There are other training schools out there. So why do people pick SOTC? Because there’s a big difference between checking a box and actually being prepared. Here’s what makes SOTC different:

You learn from someone who’s done the work.

SOTC is led by Michael Tew — a decorated 15-year veteran of the Chula Vista Police Department. He’s won awards for bravery and saving lives. He’s a licensed Private Investigator and a BSIS-certified instructor in Guard Card, Firearms, and Baton. When he teaches you how to handle a crisis, he’s not reading from a book. He’s been there.

You get everything in one place.

Guard card. Firearms. CCW. Baton. Taser. OC spray. Handcuffing. CPR and First Aid. Continuing education. You never have to run around to different schools. SOTC covers it all.

You’re always up to date.

As of January 2026, California law (SB 652) requires that both parts of your 8-hour guard card training be done with a single provider. SOTC is fully compliant. Your certificate will be accepted by BSIS without any issues.

You get help with the paperwork.

SOTC handles your BSIS submission paperwork as part of qualifying training packages. That means fewer mistakes and a faster process for you.

You’re in a real classroom — not just online.

You get hands-on, in-person training at a professional facility in Spring Valley, CA. You practice real scenarios with real equipment. You leave ready — not just certified.
