Securing your California Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) Permit is a significant step, and our comprehensive course at the Security Officer Training Center is designed to make the process clear, effective, and empowering. For new applicants, our program meets the state-mandated minimum of 26 hours of instruction, incorporating a dynamic blend of in-depth classroom discussion and practical, hands-on range application. You’ll master core safety rules, develop safe handling techniques, hone your shooting proficiency through live-fire exercises (qualifying with each firearm you intend to carry), and gain a thorough understanding of current California Penal Codes related to concealed carry, including where you can and cannot carry, and the legal aspects of self-defense and use-of-force protocols. We’ll also cover crucial topics like common mistakes to avoid, mental health awareness, safe storage and transportation, situational awareness, and post-incident procedures, culminating in a written examination and live-fire qualification. Renewal applicants will complete an 8-hour refresher course that ensures you’re fully up-to-date on any changes in laws or best practices, reviewing safety, handling, legal updates, and completing a live-fire qualification. Our instructors are DOJ certified and bring expert guidance, building your confidence and competence while ensuring full regulatory compliance. While our course provides the required training, remember that obtaining your permit involves additional steps with your local issuing authority (Sheriff’s Office or Police Department), so we recommend contacting them for their specific application process and requirements before enrolling.
