BSIS Required for Armed Guards
Duration: Full day (8 hours) + range qualification | Who it's for: Security guards who carry a firearm in plain view (holstered, visible)
An exposed firearms permit (BSIS) allows licensed security guards to carry a firearm in plain view (holstered on the belt) while on duty. A CCW (Concealed Carry Weapon) permit allows civilians to carry a concealed handgun. They are different licenses with different purposes. SOTC offers training for both.
No. A BSIS exposed firearms permit only covers you while you are on duty as a licensed security guard. It does not authorize off-duty carry. For off-duty carry, you would need a separate CCW permit from your county sheriff.
