Duration: Full day (8 hours) + range qualification | Who it's for: Licensed security guards (or guard card applicants) who want to carry a firearm on duty
You will need access to a firearm for the range qualification. If you don't own one, contact us before enrolling — we can discuss options for range day. Most students bring their own duty-approved handgun.
BSIS firearms qualification is conducted with a handgun. Semi-automatic pistols and revolvers are both acceptable. Contact us if you have questions about specific firearm models or calibers before your class date.
You must have your guard card (or have a guard card application in progress) to apply for a BSIS firearms permit. If you don't have your guard card yet, consider enrolling in our Guard Card Package #1 or #2 which bundles both courses together.
